S i d e P r o j e c t s
I collect side projects the way some people collect rocks. I'm a big fan of using hobbies as a way of exploring things I don't get to do in my day job, usually to the detriment of my ability to sleep. Here are some of the things that I've been doing in my spare time.
Nothing Sounds Good
Nothing Sounds Good
Nothing Sounds Good is a vinyl subscription box that sends out DIY indie, punk and emo records to UK subscribers every month. It was started in 2025, and is the second vinyl subscription box that I've co-founded (Wax & Stamp was my first, which sold in 2020). I'm the Creative Director and Head of Product for the project.
Brutalligators
Brutalligators
I sing in a queer punk band called Brutalligators. We started way back in 2016, and since then have released two albums and two EPs, and played all around the UK and Europe to not enough people.
Side Quest
Side Quest
Side Quest is a semi-regular meetup in London where folks share the side projects that bring them joy, whether it's diving into some weird SVG filters they learned how to use, talking about how they started a magazine, or the journey to opening London's best taqueria. Side Quest is currently on hiatus though.
Prints on Etsy
Prints on Etsy
Since 2020, I've been selling prints on Etsy as part of my illustration side-hustle. At the moment, most of them are swedish folk art with punk/queer sayings, and I've sent them all over the world. Fancy some art on your wall?
WDC
WDC
WDC is an annual conference in Bristol, UK for web developers and designers to nerd out about the latest and greatest of the web. What I love about WDC is that you might get a talk about messing with the web audio API, next to a talk about neuroscience and why Pavlov is a dog nonce, next to a talk about content design for successful design systems. I've been attending since 2011, but actively involveds in co-organizing since 2016.
Rhythm & Brews
Rhythm & Brews podcast
Rhythm & Brews is a podcast where we match craft beers to songs, with the idea that we can make the beers taste better. Kinda. It's been running since 2014, and although we don't do them monthly anymore, we still manage to crack out an episode every Christmas.
How to make friends
How to make friends podcast
How to make friends is a podcast exploring what it means to be a DIY band today. I talk to DIY bands across the UK to understand how they started, and how they make it work, from recording to touring to getting booked. We're on hiatus at the moment, but you can still check out the old episodes.
HTMF Presents
HTMF Presents
HTMF Presents is a DIY promotions collective that runs gigs, club nights and all-dayers around the UK. My part in it is that I run a bunch of gigs in and around London, as well as the annual 'How To Make Friends' all-dayer.
