Professionally

As part of my advocacy work at zeroheight, my focus is on untangling the messy area of Variables and Design Tokens, especially as they relate to multi-brand design systems, and the challenges of building something scalable and maintainable.

I'm also pretty interested in how AI can be used with design systems, and how we can do it in a way that is actually helpful (mostly in the areas of governance, documentation delivery, and measurement), and not just promising code and design generation.

I'm also building out the survey for next year's Design System Report, and preparing for the Design System Awards in December!

Side quests

I'm still working on my vinyl subscription service, Nothing Sounds Good, making the releases better each month, and spending way too much time on the zine and prints.

My band, Brutalligators, are releasing our second album, 'Still Here', at the end of the November, so doing promo and prepping for all the shows. We also need to record the second batch of podcasts, where we talk through the album, what went into the songs, and how we recorded.

I'm also still working on my website! Finding time every couple of days to mess about and add something else unhinged.

Personally

It's Christmas next month! Anyone who knows me knows that I'm already donning Christmas jumpers and listening to Sunturns on repeat. I'm also really looking forward to Wicked: For Good coming out this month, and can't wait to dive into as many trashy Christmas novels as I can get my hands on.
